Traffic Safety: Road Opening

I am writing to you with our latest update on the road developments outside school. We understand that the road will open at the end of August, which will give us the opportunity to send you more detailed plans when the works are completed and any adjustments made.

We understand that there will be traffic lights placed at the cross roads between Jinguang Lu and Baole Lu, with ‘zebra’ road markings to indicate walkways across those roads when the traffic lights have turned red. All pedestrians walking to school from Baole Lu will cross at that junction and enter the school grounds via what is the current primary school entrance.

Please click here to view a PDF document and plan of the new traffic arrangements.

Cyclists to school from Baole Lu will turn down Jinguang Lu and cycle along the cycle pathway until they pass the start of the bridge. There they will be able to cycle under the bridge on a cycles-only lane and enter the school site before what is the current secondary entrance. From there they will use the pathway at the back of school to access the cycle sheds.

Buses arriving to school in the morning will enter a bus lane which is reserved for our school at opening and closing times. Students arriving by bus will disembark and enter the school via the current cycle gate and primary field gate.

These two gates will also be used at the end of the school day for children to get on to their buses.

We are awaiting clarification from the local government about what provision will or may be made for private drivers. We will provide more information as soon as it is made available to us.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to plan the beginnings and ends of school days so that we can ensure a smooth and safe start and conclusion to children’s learning experiences.

In conclusion, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a very safe summer holiday and a well earned rest. We look forward to welcoming you back in the summer.

Dr Neil Hopkin FRSA, Principal
