SAT Preparation Classes

Standardised tests such as the SAT can play an important part in the process of applying to colleges and universities in the USA and elsewhere around the world.

In order to assist students in preparing for SAT tests, BISS Puxi will be offering an intensive preparation programme for Year 12 students in the 2018-19 academic year. Students who took part in the programme at the school in 2017-18 saw their scores increase on average by 200 points, with several students seeing gains of 250 points or above. The highest achieving students reached scores in the high 1500s (out of a total 1600) by the end of the course, putting them in an excellent position to apply for the most competitive universities in the US.

The SAT preparation programme will be delivered by tutors from A-List Education, who place a strong emphasis on enabling students to develop the best test strategies, including tips, hints, and alternate methods for addressing questions on every exam. Classes are designed not only to prepare students for the SAT, but also to challenge them to develop as critical thinkers, which will benefit them in all aspects of their IB studies.

The test-preparation programme will take place after school, one afternoon a week, between 4pm and 5:30pm, between September 2018 and May 2019. There will also be five practice tests which will take place on Saturday mornings, spread out across three terms.

An information session will be held at the school in the week beginning 27 August (exact date to be confirmed), followed by a free ‘Baseline’ test, open to all interested students, which will take place in school on Saturday 15 September. The results of this practice test will help students to understand the test and identify their strengths/weaknesses; they will allow tutors to tailor their lessons to the needs of students.

Please note that there is a charge for this tuition programme, to be paid directly to A-List Education at the start of the course. More information will be given at the start of next term, but do contact me if you have any questions regarding the programme before then.

If you think that you would be interested in registering for this service, or have any other questions, please email me on
