Y5 Class News 7.5.18

We know Year 5 are getting excited about our residential in June and would like to invite parents to a parent question and answer session on Thursday 17 May at 3:45 in Stage one.

THEMED LEARNING

This week we will be back in the Da Vinci centre for another exciting week of STEAM learning. We will be looking at different art techniques and re creating silk paintings using fine techniques. We will also continue our diary entries and spend time using the computer areas to continue our own Silk Road Blog.

PSHCE

We will continue with the PSHCE / well-being program and the  core value of collaboration.  This is the ability to work constructively with others, and children will learn to negotiate, to resolve conflicts, and to support agreed solutions. In doing so, they will strengthen their sense of teamwork and realise where they lack certain skills; which they can later hone.

We sluiten deze week het thema Wetenschap en Techniek af met het doen van proefjes en maken een verslag van onze verwachtingen, observaties en conclusies.

Year 5 en 6 werken deze week verder aan hun verslag over een “geniale uitvinding” en de achtergronden ervan. Op donderdag presenteren zij dit aan elkaar in de klas.

Year 3 en 4 maken hun verslag af over een zelfbedachte uitvinding en hoe hun leven en de wereld er over 20 jaar uitzien. Wat is er veranderd over 20 jaar? Welke uitvindingen zijn dan nieuw en wat vinden we juist heel ouderwets in 2038? Op donderdag presenteren zij dit aan elkaar in de groep.

Spelling volgende week:

Groep 4: Woorden met -eren, -enen en –elen/ zelfstandig naamwoorden in enkelvoud en meervoud

Groep 5: Colawoorden/ dubbele punt, aanhalingsteken en uitroepteken

Groep 6: Garagewoord en kilowoorden/ telwoorden zoals twee, drie, tien…

Groep 7: Trema meervoud/ bezittelijk voornaamwoorden (jouw boek)

We will be continuing with the La Maison topic using the beginner and intermediate app to develop our understanding and to be able to describe our own homes.

This weekend’s homework is to choose an activity from our Shared Learning Grid.

Next week in class, we will continue to investigate new vocabulary for items in the household.  We will use these to describe rooms in more detail and begin to use prepositions to ask and answer questions about where things are.

This week`s homework will be making a shop list for this weekend`s family shopping.

Next week we will go to the French market.  We will revise buying food items in French and will match price tags with the correct numbers.  Can you make a shopping list for a visit to the market?

Next week in class, students will explain what is or is not in a picture as well as give opinions and describe shapes and colours. These skills will be used to describe Joan Miro’s art work and the opportunity to create art in the same style.

Die Hausaufgabe für diese Woche ist im neuen Booklet auf Seite 4 Nummer 1 und 2: Zwischenüberschriften formulieren. Falls die Kinder auch Ideen zu Nummer 3 haben, können sie diese natürlich auch im Booklet notieren.

Nächste Woche werden wir weiter Sachtexte lesen und Lesestrategien üben.
